Okay, you may have heard how cold it is in LA. (No back-talk from you mid-westerners, I feel your pain, but LA doesn't actually FREEZE all that often.) See:

I live in West LA -- basically at the 10/405 intersection. I have lived in this neighborhood for 12 years and this is the 3rd time we've had hail...love it!
